What to do after the phone interview

Congratulations – you have had your first phone call interview with a prospective hiring authority. The caller was courteous and delivered a short informational insight to the position for which they are considering you. Also, your current resume has gotten their attention enough to contact you!

The first step is to find and read any news releases and other background to weave into further contact with them. Make copious notes and file this into in the company file.

The second step is to write a quick Thank You note to the person at the company who contacted you. You should be sure to include their proper title. Send this via email only.

The third step would be to follow-up again after 6-8 days to try and set up the next meeting date. The contact will also be with he person who initially contacted you.

Now you wait for the second phone call for an on-site visit and a more thorough interview in person. Good Luck.
